Dog Days.... A day in the life of a mountain rescue dog.

Sierra is a patrol dog at Crystal Mountain.... a good wedding venue, by the way :) But, this post is about dog portraits, more specifically, lifestyle portraits of a mountain rescue dog who loves her job. Ben & Allison, who's wedding I shot a few years ago are Sierra's "parents", and they asked me to come up to shoot her portraits.

Allison and Sierra. She just commands "dog in" and she trots right into position. This keeps her safe when there's a lot of skiers on the hill.

I played around with some sequence shots. Kinda fun!

For Mike and Margo's Seattle Wedding we did a reception studio, which is our spin on the "photo booth". Basically it's a studio setup at the reception with a backdrop and some edgy lighting. It's was an opportunity for people to let loose and have some fun in front of the camera. An added bonus is the great images they were able to get of their friends and family who came from all over the country. Considering how often they are all able to gather in one place, I was glad to have a reception studio set up for these wonderful portraits....

Jonathan + Sarah tied the knot at the First Lutheran Church in Poulsbo. After the ceremony, they took a nice stroll with their wedding party and 200!+ guests to the Son's of Norway Hall for their reception. Guest Signature Album

I've had a few requests lately for an example of my custom Guest Signature Albums. Here are some photos of an album I just finished. These albums have a clear acrylic cover and are bound in leather. Inside, each spread has one matted 5x7 photo and plenty of room for your guests to sign. There are many options and sizes available for these albums, including a more traditional cover in leather.

I'm constantly trying out new lighting techniques. The art next to EMP at Seattle Center provided a nice setting to practice some portrait lighting. My friend Jake was nice enough to model for me.... Thanks Jake!

I lit Jake with a bare strobe from camera right and used another strobe with a red gel to illuminate the artwork behind him.

With Seattle weather at it's finest.... wind, rain and a little sunshine, Vanessa and Jim ventured out into the elements with me for a little engagement session. After a walk down post alley we ducked into the cover of Pike Place Market to warm up. We finished off the shoot at Victor Steinbrueck park.

I shot Dana & Kenney's wedding in Huntington Beach on Aug 3rd. Thanks to Andy Lewis for second shooting and Sarah and Katherine for assisting. We couldn't have pulled it off without you. We mostly shot this wedding with off camera flash, synched with Pocket Wizards.....we got our inspiration for this technique from strobist as well as flashflavor Many thanks to David Hobby and Matt Adcock for their inspiration!
